Questions & answers

Does the Brava Ostomy Support Belt prevent hernias?
The Brava Ostomy Support Belt can be used post-operatively to stabilize and support the abdominal wall. The belt can help prevent hernias post-operatively, in combination with exercise.

Can the Brava Ostomy Support Belt be worn with an individualized hole?
Yes. There are two ways of wearing the belt. The first one is to wear the belt on top of the ostomy pouching system. The second one is to cut an individualized hole, where the ostomy pouch is pulled through the hole and worn on top of the belt. It is based on personal preference, which option is preferred.

How do I cut the individualized hole?
If you want to wear the Brava Ostomy Support Belt with an individualized hole it needs to be cut first. A cutting guide can be found in each package of the belt and guides you through the steps of cutting the right size of the hole. The first time you are cutting the hole, you can also contact your ostomy care nurse for support.

How do I find the right size?
The Brava Ostomy Support Belt comes in 6 different sizes, from S to 3XL. To find the right size, it is best to use a normal measurement tape and measure the widest circumference where you would want to wear the belt. You can choose the size from the size chart below. Should you be between two sizes, you can choose your size based on the level of support you prefer. A smaller size provides more compression, whereas a larger size provides less compression.
