1. How does the BodyCheck work?

The BodyCheck is 8 simple questions supported by engaging animations. Based on your answers your profile will be identified and you will be given advice on what Coloplast product solution to fit your body profile.

2. Is the BodyCheck relevant for me?

The BodyCheck has been developed to support people with a stoma in understanding their individual body profile and finding the product solution with the best possible fit. As bodies change over time, most people with a stoma will benefit from a BodyCheck now and then.

3. Why is it a good idea to perform a BodyCheck?

The profile of your abdomen will most likely change over time, and it can be hard to find the right pouching system to fit your body profile. The BodyCheck guides you to find the pouching system that matches your individual body profile the best. It is a good idea to do a BodyCheck frequently to ensure that body profile changes are dealt with. Performing a regular BodyCheck will ensure that  you always have the best pouching system, and will help prevent leakage and skin problems. This will  lead to an easier daily life.

4. How do I perform a BodyCheck?

The BodyCheck is done by answering 8 simple questions regarding the area around your stoma. You should assess the area both while standing, lying and sitting and choose the position that makes it the most challenging to apply your pouching system. Usually a sitting position is most challenging. Based on your answers you will be given advice on what Coloplast product solution will fit your profile the best.

5. How often should I perform a BodyCheck?

The BodyCheck can be compared to a blood pressure test. Body changes around the stoma can occur at different paces and times, so regular body self assessment is important to solve and prevent problems.

6. Can I order products via the BodyCheck?

We are able to send free samples from the BodyCheck. If you are happy with these, you can order further products from the same place you get your supplies from today.

7. Will the BodyCheck compare recommendations to my current pouching system?

No, comparisons between current and recommended product solutions must be discussed with you Coloplast Care advisor and/or ostomy nurse.

8. Does the BodyCheck take everything into consideration when choosing my optimal pouching system?

The profile of the area around the stoma has a profound impact on a product’s ability to fit the body. The BodyCheck considers the profile of the area around the stoma. However, other elements to consider and perhaps discuss with your ostomy nurse include:

  • Physical capabilities, such as dexterity and eye sight
  • Medication, such as steroids
  • General activity level
  • Skin problems

9. Can the BodyCheck solve my skin issues?

Skin problems are mainly due to leakage, and the use of a product that doesn’t fit well. Some of these problems may be avoided by doing the BodyCheck to ensure that you use a pouching system with the best possible fit. For specific skin issues, please talk to your ostomy nurse.

10. Can I save my Body Profile or complete it at a later point?

No, information regarding your body profile will not be stored. All 8 questions must be answered at one time. If needed, you can send your body profile, advice and product recommendations to an email address to save it.

“Soon after discharge I started to put on weight and all the pouches did not fit anymore. I searched the internet and started calling different companies to get samples. It took weeks to find something that would fit. Having used BodyCheck back then would have saved me so much time and troubles.”

Which type of pouching system do you prefer?

1-piece pouching system

The pouch and the barrier come as one unit. This system is very flexible and lies flat against the body, making it less noticeable under clothing. When you change the pouch you change the barrier as well.

2-piece pouching system with mechanical coupling

The pouch is clicked onto the barrier with a plastic coupling. The barrier is more rigid, and it is easy to apply because you can see the stoma as you center it. With this system you can easily change your pouch without changing the barrier.

2-piece pouching system with adhesive coupling

The pouch is attached to the barrier with an adhesive coupling – taping the two units together. The barrier is flexible and lays flatter against the body compared to a click coupling. It is easy to apply because you can see the stoma as you center the barrier. You can easily change your pouch without changing the barrier.
